If righteousness is borrowed from the moral code and grace is borrowed from aspiration, where does that place holiness? Holiness would be placed on the same shelf as all the other faux elements in Satan’s shop where he peddles all his counterfeit knowledge and tools.
The fake stuff is supposed to look like the real thing. Faux rock panels are supposed to look like you have rocks built into your living room walls. It gives it a real rustic, outdoorsy kind of look. Faux pearls are made to look like real pearls, but they are fake. Faux fur is made to look like real fur, but it is fake. Satan is the master craftsman. He is very good at counterfeiting the Elements of the Gospel deceive you into thinking that salvation is taking place when it is not.
Do you see the battle for the mind? As long as the mind is occupied with the moral code a person will continue to look for equity in the flesh where Satan knows it cannot be found.
The good news is that God is returning the church to true Apostolic Governance. Apostles Today Network of the Second 8th Week is returning the church to the full teaching of the 12 Elements of the Gospel.
The Parts of an Engine
Let’s look at this another way. We’ll talk for a minute about machines. A mechanic can understand the proclitic relationship of all of the parts of an engine, which must work together in order for the vehicle to function. All gasoline piston engines have the same basic parts, but if you take away any one of the parts, or put in extra parts, the engine will not work. It borrows its function from another part.
When we think of an engine we don't think of just the piston or the crankshaft, but we think of all of the parts that go into that engine to make it work. This is proclitic value.
A baker can understand the proclitic relationship of all of the ingredients that go into a conventional cookie recipe, understanding that all the ingredients work together to create the whole. The baker doesn’t think of only the eggs by themselves, nor the sugar by itself, for neither the eggs nor the sugar acts independently of the other ingredients. The sugar’s contribution acts with the flour, salt, vanilla, and baking soda.
So, as we begin to think of all of the ingredients that go into the recipe and how they work together to produce the whole, even so, when we think of the gospel of Jesus Christ, we must think of all the Element of the gospel and how God has ordered them to act upon one another.
Each Element is so closely related in how it represents the work of the cross and the power of the resurrection, that they have no independent expression; none of the Elements functions alone, but rather are dependent on each other to show forth the will and might of God's plan. This is proclitic relationship.
In the entire process of knowing God, overcoming ourselves, and walking by faith, we must understand that grace and faith cannot stand alone; neither can sanctification and holiness stand alone. Rather, they work with justification, charity, and truth, as they also work with the peace and rest of God, and the renewing of the mind.
How the Elements are Synergistic
Looking at both the binary relationship of the Elements of the Gospel, as well as the proclitic relationship they possess, helps us to next understood synergistic value. To understand what synergism means, think about how vitamins and minerals affect our body. Each vitamin and mineral benefits the body in a specific way. Vitamin A helps to maintain our eyes and skin; Thiamin is needed for carbohydrate metabolism; Riboflavin helps body cells use oxygen; Vitamin C is essential for healthy bones and teeth; calcium is vital for the growth and maintenance of bones and teeth, and Vitamin D is essential for assisting the body to use calcium.
A calcium supplement is good by itself, but when taken with vitamin D, the body is able to better use the calcium. Vitamin E helps to carry vitamin C into the blood stream by thinning the blood, enabling more of the vitamin C to go into other areas of the body.
One vitamin taken alone can affect the body, but when they are paired with other vitamins, their ability to benefit the body is greatly enhanced. So, the total effect of the vitamins and minerals working together is greater than the sum of the individual effect of one vitamin or one mineral alone. This is synergism.
When speaking comparatively of the Elements of the Gospel we see that the interaction of the Elements creates a total effect of the Spirit that is greater than the individual Element.
The apostles did not always present the Elements in pairs, but sometimes in threes or fours to show the flow of God's grace with each expression. The office of the apostle is given as a means to synthesize truth.
