Standing for the Truth in an Age of Unbelief and Apostasy-Part 3
Are you ready to stand for truth in an age of apostasy? It’s easy to draw the sword and say that we are ready to stand for truth, but if we cannot discern between the flesh and the Spirit, do we really know what we are standing in defense of?
Do you believe reciprocation is by the flesh or by the Spirit? Do you know the difference between the two? That is the focus of part 3 in this series Standing for the Truth in an Age of Unbelief and Apostasy. We are talking about the apostasy of the church of Christ and the need to get back to the truth. So, let’s look at reciprocation and learn what it means to God and how Satan twisted it to teach us a faith that is removed from God. To learn the will of God in these last days we are going to learn how to diagnose faith problems.
Do you Believe Reciprocation is by the Flesh or by the Spirit?
First of all, what does reciprocation mean? Reciprocation has to do with giving. God expressed His love towards us by giving us Jesus Christ. How are we to reciprocate that gift? God wants us to teach us how to reciprocate by the Spirit, but Satan has ruined the church of Christ by placing reciprocation in the flesh. He does this because he knows this will offend God. Satan wants to teach you how to reciprocate your love to God by the flesh so that your faith is at a standstill because it is in a state of offense.
What is a Transgression?
We read the word transgression in the Bible and think we know what it means. We might think about the sins of fornication, adultery, stealing, lying, and gossip when we think of transgression. What action would we then take? Well, common sense tell us that the only possible action to stop transgressing against God is to stop going those things.
That seems reasonable enough—to stop doing a thing; And in many cases we are able to stop doing this or that. But somehow it does not do the trick, changing certain habits of the carnal man did not bring true and lasting peace.
The mind then turns to negotiating for peace and battles between your heart’s desire to live for God and the evidence against you. This battle that goes on in the mind is a sign of 2 things: (1) We don’t know how to reciprocate by the Spirit and (2) we don’t know what a transgression is.
God Set the Grounds for Reciprocation in Covenant
God set the grounds for our reciprocation when He set the terms of the covenant in Jesus Christ. The terms of the covenant are made clear by Jesus Himself who said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments,” (John 14:15). The promise that Jesus then gives is, “He that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” (verse 21). The promise of reciprocation by the Spirit. Jesus promises to manifest Himself to us if we love Him on the grounds of His covenant. To stand for truth means to follow the ground rules God put in place for reciprocation. This is the will of God.
The transgression then is simple: We placed reciprocation in the realm of the flesh instead of the Spirit. We tried to give to God from the realm of the flesh instead of the Spirit.
Jesus makes this distinction between the flesh and the Spirit because there are two kingdoms at work—that of God and that of God. Satan wants you to confuse the two, God wants you to separate the kingdoms so that you know how to give back to Him. To stand for the truth means to separate God’s kingdom knowledge from Satan’s kingdom knowledge and learn how to stand for the truth of God. This is the will of God.
What is the Flesh?
Learn how to stand for truth. Learn to discern between the flesh and the Spirit.
We need a quick study of the flesh to learn what we are to avoid reciprocating. The flesh is the carnal man, the natural man—it is you. You are made up of 5 distinct parts:
Your Signature -- The part of you that expresses your talents and skills.
Your Moral Code – The part of you that weighs right from wrong.
Your God-Code – The appetite and drive for perfection, harmony, and order.
Your Knowledge – The value you place on the knowledge that defines you.
Your Fruit – When we were in the world there is was no fruit but iniquity.
The Gospel of the Flesh is the carnal man preaching to himself. He learns his signature to find ways to give back to God. Giving tithes and offerings or giving our time and talents is said to reflect a grateful heart that wants to give back to God a portion of what He has given to us.
It’s true—God did give us our signature gifts. But look at what it is—it is us. Look at who it is not—it is not Jesus Christ. Look at WHAT it is—it is a portion. What is Jesus Christ? It is the gift of God’s fulness.
God clearly gave us a perfect gift in Jesus Christ, thereby setting the terms for our gift that we are to give back to Him. We are to give Jesus Christ back to God. So, putting this all together. Giving the gift of our signature, our time, money, talents is not the gift that God gave us is it? That identifies us…the carnal man…the natural man.
The flesh is the carnal man’s thinking processes. He learns his signature to tame it instead of learning Christ to reciprocate to God. James wrote, “Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.” (James 3:12), meaning that we cannot pursue God through the bitter waters of the flesh.
The Spirit of the Lord wrote through John saying, “Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous,” (1 John 3:7). The deception is in how faith is carried. He that carries his faith by the flesh is Satan’s child. His faith is born of the knowledge of this world, the signature of the soul, the moral code, the God-Code, and the fruits of iniquity. The carnal man battles these things in his mind.
It is said that giving our offerings to God, giving of ourselves, our talents, our time, our money REFLECTS a grateful heart. No it doesn’t. It REFLECTS us. That is what it REFLECTS…it reflect you. Do you see it? You are replacing Jesus Christ.
God wants to teach you how to REFLECT Jesus Christ rather than yourself. The only way you can do that is by keeping His covenant commandments. If you love Him—REFLECT Him. This is reciprocation in kind.
Learning Jesus’ covenant commandments means to learn all about covenant faith. His knowledge…His spiritual tools…His priesthood. Do this and you will reflect Him.
The videos on this page will provide additional teaching concerning the difference between the flesh and the Spirit. God is cleansing the church of the Gospel of the Flesh, where the church of Christ learned to use themselves as the covenant in place of Jesus.
