The Pattern of Faith for the Church of Christ

Jesus Christ, our Blueprint for faith
THE PATTERN FOR FAITH CARRIES THE DESIGN OF CHRIST
 
When an architect draws up plans, they become a working pattern (a blueprint) with which the structure is built. Each pattern carries a design appropriate for the structure: a bank is designed for banking; a hospital for caring for the sick; a school for learning, and for salvation, God designed a covenant: the covenant of Jesus Christ.
 
The Blueprint of Truth – The Pattern for Faith

God’s plan to restore the soul of man back into its former glory also carries a blueprint (a pattern for faith) which all who come into covenant with God follow, in order to take on His divine nature (2 Peter 1:3).  

Christ is the blueprint; He is the pattern; and in Him, is found “all things” we need for the divine transformation of the soul back into the likeness of God’s own soul; for man was created to reflect the image and likeness of his Creator (Genesis 1:26).   

In Christ, we find the knowledge of all things pertaining to our salvation and the tools we need to use. Jesus Christ is the Way and the Truth. The truth is the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the gospel of Jesus Christ, is the knowledge of Jesus Christ: He is the true pattern.

 
The Design of Christ
 
As we build according to the true pattern for faith, which carries the design of the true Christ, we are assured of the following:
  • We are building the House of the Lord, and our labour is not in vain (Ephesians 2:20-22)
  • We are building up the walls of salvation and they will stand (Isaiah 26:1)
  • As each brick is laid, we are being transformed from glory to glory(2 Corinthians 3:18)
  • As each brick is laid, Christ increases and I decrease (John 3:30)
  • As each brick is laid, I am partaking of His divine nature by His divine power (2 Peter 1:3-4)
  • As each brick is laid and the virtues of Christ are formed in the inner man, faith is strengthened and hope shines bright (Colossians 1:27) (Hebrews 3:6)
  • As each brick is laid, we are made one in Christ and the unity of the brethren (our fellow builders) is not feigned for it is by the Spirit and not by the flesh. (Ephesians 4:13)
  • As each brick is laid, we carry within the invisible light of God’s glory not by the work of our hand but by His. (2 Corinthians 4:7)
  • The Judge stands at the door (of the conscience) and it is pure (1 Timothy 1:5)(1 Timothy 19: 3-9)
Do you know whose house you are building?
 
Just as there can be no guesswork in building a house: the builder must follow the prescribed blueprint wherein each brick; bag of cement and rod of iron is accounted for; so too, the activity of our faith. God laid a pattern for faith in Jesus Christ which every believer must follow if Christ is to be formed within. 
 
God has designed our salvation as carefully as He did the universe: by weight, measure and rule and expects us to follow the pattern of His plan without subtraction or addition. (Hebrews 8:5; Philippians 2:12). When we do this we, can and do, have unwavering confidence that we co-labour with the Spirit of Truth and fulfil His expectations for our overcoming (Revelations 3:21). Thus is the scripture fulfilled. (Ephesians 4:4-6)
 
When we follow the pattern of faith that carries the design of Christ, the glory of the Lord is seen; and it is His glory that will fill the house. The builders of His house are His and they are one, even as the Father, Son and Spirit are one; for they are all ONE in Him, being His Body and their reward is with Him. (Isaiah 62:11)
 
DISAMBIGUATION
 
When the pattern of Christ is absent, which pattern do you think will man followed for faith?
 
Man will follow the pattern of the flesh, because this is the default of man. And, we know that we are to overcome the flesh not follow it. So we need to know what the flesh is in order not to follow it. (Romans 8:1)(Romans 8:4)(Romans 8:8) But how will you recognise the flesh, if you don’t know what it is? Do you see how we need  knowledge of these things in order to discern the pattern of light and the pattern of darkness, for Satan will always present to us the counterfeit.
 
The Bible is not the pattern, even though it contains the knowledge of it. The knowledge of the pattern is found in the mystery which is found in the Bible, which mystery God has now revealed to the Church. The pattern is the same pattern that the early church followed, the knowledge of Jesus Christ has not changed, even though we are not in the 1st century but the 21st.The things of Christ and His covenant have stayed the same but we will follow this same pattern in a very different world.
 
It seems a given among believers today that God will replicate the 1st century and are watching for the miracles of the flesh, instead of listening to what the Spirit is saying to the churches. God is giving us knowledge for faith whereby you will be witness to the greatest miracle of all: the transformation of the human soul into the substance of the Divine. The grace of God will not lead you astray but will:
  • Direct you in the wisdom that’s from above
  • Bring forth the substance of the knowledge of Christ (truth), being the fruit of His virtues
  • Open the eyes of your understanding, so that your faith being cognitive might be competent.
God will not withhold His grace from those who ask Him for it.
