WHAT IS AN APOSTLE? - LEARN WHY THEY ARE FOR TODAY AND WHAT APOSTLES DO

Why are Apostles Vital?  Why They Are Vital Today?

In truth there is only one correct view of an apostle, and that is God’s view. To clear up the confusion about why the church needs apostles today, we need to first establish that God can do as He pleases. The same God that says “I change not!” is the same God that destroyed the earth by a flood and saved Noah and his family (8 persons) alive. He is the same God that sent in one man (Moses) to Pharaoh saying, “Let my people go!” He is the same God who plucked David from the garments of a shepherd and set him in the robes of a king. God can do what He wants to.

\"ApostlesWhat that means is that God is giving us permission to set our logic aside to accept His divine plan for apostles today. When asking, “What is an apostle” we are not asking our logic to step up and answer the question. We are asking faith to step forward. Logic is critical for us to accomplish just about any task—it is logical to build a railroad in the direction of the town you want to provide transportation to. It’s logical to plant in the spring to harvest in the autumn. It’s logical to build the frame of the house before you build the roof. Experience teaches us these things.
The problem is that the church has zero experience with true, living apostles today, so there is no frame of reference for Christians to know what is an apostle is and what an apostle is supposed to do. In fact, apostles today seems to be in direct contradiction to what every Christian has been taught up to this point. How like God to show man again that his logic is not the standard of faith, and to show us that God’s supreme will to use apostles today is not open for debate.
The coalition of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers of the Second 8th Week are preparing the way for the church to enter into a new era of truth, purity, and unity. As we will see in this paper, apostles today are vital.

Apostles are Called of God

What do we expect an apostle to do? First of all, an apostle does not do anything of his own mind, for an apostle is called of God just as Noah, Moses, and David were called of God. Noah was called to build the ark, Moses was called to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt, and David was called to be king over Israel.
What is an apostle called to do? An apostle today is called to build God’s house by the Spirit. Moses is a good example of this, how God gave him the blueprint of the tabernacle of the wilderness.

“And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
According to all that I shew thee, after the PATTERN of the tabernacle, and the PATTERN of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it. (Exodus 25:8)(Exodus 25:9)

What stands out in these verses is the word “pattern”; and here we see what Moses was called to do. He was to build God’s sanctuary according to the pattern (blueprint) that God gave him. The Pattern included the tabernacle and all the instruments of service.

What is Apostolic Grace?

What is an apostle? An apostle operates in a measure of grace to establish the church in truth As the Apostle Paul affirmed, “If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me [as an apostle] to you-ward: How that by revelation he made known unto me [apostle] the mystery of Christ]; as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ” (Ephesians 3:2)(Ephesians 3:3)(Ephesians 3:4).

There are many false apostolic movements today claiming the grace of an apostle, but they do not possess it. These callings fabricated by man are easy to spot. They simply do not have the restored doctrine of Christ to teach. It’s like a person claiming to that they are a 5-star chef and then serving you a peanut butter and jam sandwich. The proof is in the kitchen, and none of the kettles on the stove are boiling. The pots are empty. The apostle is vitally needed today. For while many claim “apostolic grace” few operate in it.

False apostles claim the grace, but cannot teach the doctrine of Christ. There are 12 foundation stones of knowledge that the apostle is to set within the understanding of each believer. They are also to restore to the believer the priesthood.

Apostles Today Teach Christian Doctrine

Knowing what the Bible says about God giving the pattern to Moses tells us what Moses was called to do. This helps us to know what apostles today are called to do. The Bible says that the first century apostles instructed the church in doctrine.
“And they (all Christians) continued steadfastly in the apostles’ DOCTRINE and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42)

What do apostles do?

Apostles teach Christians doctrine. Where Moses received a physical blueprint for a physical house, apostles today receive a spiritual blueprint to build a spiritual house for God.

As stated, God set the pattern through Moses to show us what apostles do today. The tabernacle of the First Covenant had physical instruments: a physical altar, and physical candle, and physical instruments where by the priests would serve God according to His design. Apostles today are given a spiritual blueprint to build God’s spiritual house.

I want to go back to the point God is making in Acts (Acts 2:42) —what does an apostle do? —It is clear from scripture that they teach the one and only true doctrine of Christ. This is clearly going to present a problem to those who want to keep the doctrines they are comfortable with. What is going to happen is that many will begin to struggle and fight against God’s will simply to preserve what they have built for themselves.

Apostles Today Tear Down Old Foundations

The old foundations are the traditions of man that took root in the church to become the basis of faith today. God wants to tear down these strong holds of the mind. They are doctrines that hold empty promises.

“And the sword shall come upon Egypt, and great pain shall be in Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt, and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be broken down.” (Ezekiel 30:4)

Clearly, and without ambiguity, God calls and gives authority to apostles today to breaks down old foundations (false knowledge) that man builds upon in confidence. Just as the nations of the world take confidence in their sword and technology, the current Christian culture takes confidence in false knowledge. False knowledge works for the honour of man; it is the darkness of ignorance on the mind; it is Satan’s knowledge that rivals God.

Jesus taught against the traditions of the Pharisees because they used false knowledge to build faith upon the traditions of man, and apostles today do the same thing, they teach against the traditions of man’s philosophical and religious conditioning. Just as Jesus failed to confirm the faith of the Scribes and Pharisees, the Spirit of God, failing to acknowledge the error a person embraces as truth, will not empower their faith. Apostles today prevent that from happening by tearing down the knowledge Satan planted in the church.

Old foundations are the thinking patterns of many generations that God is tearing down. Although it is believed that God doesn’t care what we believe or that it doesn’t matter what we believe, apostles today challenge the foundation of that thinking, because it won’t hold up to God wrath.

Apostles are Foundation Builders

What do apostles do? God uses apostles to lay the foundation of truth in the heart. This doctrine is a form of knowledge that God works with. God won’t stand by knowledge that is a fabrication of man’s wisdom. Apostles today challenge the very foundation upon which you have built your faith.

“And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.” (Isaiah 58:12)

The difference between a believer who has had the foundation of truth built in their heart by true apostles today and a believer who has learned doctrine from those who are not apostles, boils down to the difference between living faith and death faith.[chart]
